Max Verstappen is the winner in the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix which concluded on Saturday 18th November.
Max went from hating everything about the Las Vegas Grand Prix to actually singing “Viva Las Vegas! Viva Las Vegas!” as he took home his 18th win of the season. He had clearly voiced his critical opinions about the race from the start on Wednesday, saying that it was 99% show and an extravaganza rather than an actual race.
Max went on to have a troubling weeklong position on the Las Vegas track. He fought a five-second penalty and a damaged car, his team-mate Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari swapped the top position several times in the match, and its only in the final 13 laps that Verstappen moved into the lead to secure his 18th win.
The remarkable match ignited a new-found spirit for the record-breaking F1 racer. “I hope everyone enjoyed it, we definitely did. Excited to come back here next year and try to do something similar, “said Verstappen after the November race which is now cited as the best November in Las Vegas’ history.
According to president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Steve Hill, the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix generated an estimated impact of $1.2 billion. The four-night race drew 315,000 people proving the success of F1’s $500 million gamble on the Vegas Strip.
