Overview And A Bit Of History
- Address: Caesars Palace, 3570 S Las Vegas Boulevard. NV 89109
- Phone: 702 731 7928
Bacchanal Buffet first opened its doors on September 11th 2012 in a sumptuous space created by the celebrated Japanese designer Tetsuo Aoyagi.
The restaurant cost $17m to build and decorate, and from the beginning, it was always intended to be the buffet of all buffets.
It quickly gained renown for the astounding breadth of dishes on offer, establishing it as one of the unmissable things to do in Vegas. It was subsequently acclaimed as the “Best Buffet” by USA Today in both 2012 and 2013 and has since picked up a number of other accolades.
Serving a constantly changing – but always exciting – array of food from around the world, the buffet originally consisted of nine open kitchens.
Food was prepared fresh by teams of cooks in front of diners, who were free to wander around loading their plates with anything that took their fancy.
Like most restaurants in Vegas, it was forced to close its doors in 2020 due to the covid pandemic, but it has since reopened after a major refit – again overseen by Tetsuo Aoyagi and costing a further $2.4m – and is now inarguably better than ever.
What’s New?
The remodeling of this most famous of buffets has seen the space retain the nine open kitchens, and as before the décor still takes its inspiration from nature.
Materials such as glass and stone are used to create the impression of ice caves, mountains and other exotic features, resulting in a culinary wonderland for diners to explore.
The range of food, breathtaking as it was before, has now been expanded, and you will now see mobile food carts crisscrossing the floor serving further delectable treats.
With the pandemic in mind, the new version has also brought in a raft of health measures to make the experience as safe a sanitary as possible for both staff and guests.
Finally, a new reservation system has been instigated to ensure nobody misses out on this unique experience while also minimizing the time spent waiting in line.
So in short, the buffet is back with a bang, and it’s clear that the management has taken advantage of the enforced break to ensure that the new incarnation is even more spectacular than the Bacchanal Buffet of old.
The Bacchanal Buffet Food
What Are The Nine Kitchens?
Bacchanal Buffet still operates nine main open kitchens where cooks are hard at work preparing their specialty dishes before guests’ eyes. They are as follows:
- Mexican
- Italian
- Chinese
- Japanese
- American
- Seafood
- Pizza
- Deli
- Desserts
However, there is also a whole range of other dishes that technically don’t belong to any of these categories but are regularly prepared, nonetheless.
For example, favorites from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Laos are available along with classics from various parts of Latin America.
What Are The Roaming Carts?
One of the newest additions to Bacchanal is the roaming carts that meander between tables offering a range of dim sum delights, gourmet wagyu hotdogs and many other delicious treats.
What’s On The Menu?
Since the food offered at the buffet is constantly changing “at the whim of the chefs”, it’s impossible to give precise details of what is available at any particular time.
However, the full range of favorites, including meat, seafood, vegetarian food and more will always be available. Most countries and regions from around the world are represented, especially the world’s major cuisines such as Chinese, Italian, Indian, Mexican and more.
There is an extensive selection of desserts, and while there is no traditional salad bar, a range of salads are available from different areas in the buffet.
What Are Some Dishes To Look Out For?
While there’s no exhaustive, definitive list of dishes on the menu, there are still many classics and popular favorites to look out for. Here are just a few examples:
- Crab brunch
There are some special dishes included in the crab brunch that you won’t find in the regular brunch or dinner.
The crab brunch is available from Thursday to Monday and includes both cold and hot dishes. Crab legs and crab cakes are still available but the steamed snow crab legs are the centerpiece of the brunch.
New England style seafood boils at Bacchanal come with Dungeness crab, prawns, crawfish, blue crab, mussels, corn, and potatoes.
Feast upon the Jonah crab claws, smoked Salmon, Jumbo shrimp cocktails, Pen cove mussels, Cortez clams, and some flavorful chilled Dungeness crab just to mention a few. Other highlights include the Lobster egg bites and crab Florentine Benedict.
Enjoy fresh crab salads and creamy crab bisque filled with crab soup and accompanied by crusty breads.
Do not forget to pair your meals with Bacchanal’s sweet treats from tarts to pastries. There is a huge assortment of pancake styles to fit different tastes and preferences. Enjoy!
- Meat and poultry
Prime rib, choice cuts of beef, suckling roast pig, rotisserie chicken, roast turkey, BBQ spicy duck wings, ham on the bone, wood-grilled lamb T-bone.

How Will You Know Where To Start?
With such an enormous spread of food, the challenge can be knowing where to start. There may also be many dishes that are unfamiliar to you, and for first-timers, the whole experience can be overwhelming.
However, at each kitchen, the chef and cooks will all be happy to explain the various dishes they are preparing and how to eat them, and other staff working at the buffet are also trained to help you understand how everything works.
So while it’s up to you what you sample, there’s no shortage of personnel available to help you make the most of your time at the buffet.

Can You Book In Advance?
Since reopening, in an effort to reduce wait times and to ensure everyone who wants to enjoy the experience is able to do so, Bacchanal has introduced a booking system.
The advantage of this is that diners can guarantee a slot, so they know they will be admitted, and the time spent waiting in line has been reduced.
On the downside, the restaurant is now often fully booked for a week or two in advance, so if you are planning to visit, it pays to make your reservation as early as possible.
Walk-ins may still be possible, but only for non-peak times. If you try to get in without a reservation after around 6pm, you are very likely to be turned away.
Reservations can be made on www.opentable.com.
For group reservations, you should contact Bacchanal Buffet directly.
How Long Can You Stay?
It’s important to note that the price of entry allows you to remain in the buffet for up to 90 minutes only.
What’s The Dress Code?
The dress code is “smart casual”, so in other words, within reason, you can wear what you want. This means sneakers, jeans, sports leisure and most other types of clothing will be acceptable.
Is It Family/kid-friendly?
Yes, the Bacchanal Buffet welcomes families with kids. See above for details about reductions for children.
How Long Is The Queue And Wait Time?
In theory, the new reservation system should have reduced the amount of time spent in line. However, even with a reservation, you should still expect to stand in line for a while, anything up to half an hour or 45 minutes during busy times.
For those without reservations, it’s still possible to get in at non-peak times, but you will have to turn up early and wait in line. In that case, wait times of well over an hour are not unheard of.
Dietary Requirements
Vegan And Vegetarian Food
With the reopening, the buffet has made a big effort to cater for vegetarians and vegans. You will now find a full and varied range of plant-based and non-meat dishes.
Special Dietary Requirements And Allergies
The buffet caters for those with special dietary requirements and allergies. If you have specific questions, you are recommended to contact staff at the buffet directly.
